Shadowbox Cards

Here are my newest Shadowbox cards. Below are the first ones I made.

On my scrapbooking messageboard, we were talking about a new die release and how we could make a similar card to the sample made with the new dies. I adore Lawn Fawn and have many LF dies and stamps.  I prefer paper pieced like Karen Burniston does the best. Lawn Fawns new ShadowBox die is too small for me. So I used the square set of Lawn Fawn Stitched Insideout dies for the window. Used a Karen B banner die similar to the LF one. Had just gotten some plaid paper somewhat resembling the sample and finally found a pale blue that coordinated. The oval ice fishing hole is cut with a very old QK oval die and hand colored to give it dimension.
Below for the rest of the instructions.

I had to cut down the Sizzix Doll fishing pole. Did ok but I loved this and want to make many more but didn't really want the LF set, I have many other LF sets I want more. Plus, I wanted a die fishing pole, not a stamp & die fishing pole.

I looked and looked and finally found this Taylored Expressions fishing pole that was just the perfect size AND came with a fish! It cuts in the other direction from my original card. Would look ok on the back side but I wanted the best side forward so I switched. My next thing is to make this with the Penguin that comes in the set with the Bear and Hedgehog.
This oval was cut with a Karen B die and also hand colored for dimension. Bucket is Impression Obsession.

On card above,  Lawn Fawn wave slits, celebrate with Karen B hill & cloud bank above.

Card below is LF grass, hill. Fishhook is old QK die.

*****First ShadowBox cards I did.
Here are several versions of the same card. I had fun figuring out what size I needed to keep it an A2 and use the dies I already had.

Some of my latest Karen Burniston Popup Cards

 Jeff's birthday card.

I thought this sentiment was just perfect for a beach  birthday card.

This one is almost a 5x7 and has two palm trees.

 A special order!

May 2017
It came today! This is my first die from Karen's new company "Karen Burniston in cahoots with Riley and Company". I wasn't expecting it for another week or so but I got it early!

I made it for friends who have an anniversary coming up soon.

 Partly open
Fully open. In the final version, I have a label underneath the lifted label with their names.

Here is the first card from Karen's second release with her new company. I like to start with a very plain front.

Above and below is the inside of the first card. Most of my tree dies were way too big or way too little. I wanted to get it finished so I just used my two tinest Dachshund dies.

Here is the inside of the second version. I didn't want to do oversized animals and wanted something besides trees and don't think I have anything that looks like a flowering bush. I got to thinking about what you'd find in a yard. And I thought, bird bath! Birdhouse! I was hoping that the small Spellbinders tree that I got BECAUSE of the  tiny birds also had a birdhouse. PERFECT!

I cut down the pole on Karen's ECD Lots of Pops for the birdhouse. Also used a piece for the bottom of the birdbath. Looked to the left and on my table was the Spellbinders Happy Birthday with tiny cupcake. Since the bottom of the cupcake was very shallow, unlike most, it was PERFECT! I'm thinking of making a bird feeder out of the birdhouse also. The trees would have been better if I'd attached them to the back of the house rather than flat on the background. Would have given more dimension.

Here are the first few of Karen's new Pop(stand)up Christmas tree. I LOVE it.

Darn it! I KNEW I should have gotten the Lawn Fawn Fa la la la la border die! Would be so perfect here, I'll be getting it soon. The Tree Skirt is cut OUT of the cardstock with one of the ECD Pop it ups Pull Card Edges. The scalloped border is from the same die. The scalloped border and the oval of that set was all I thought I could use.

Found it on clearance and decided to get it. Got to thinking that I MIGHT be able to find a use for the other two dies and did! Marked the die where to line up and works perfect! The blue "floor rug" is in TWO pieces because it allows the card to lay flat. I hate the line but makes a world of difference in the card laying flat.

I DID order fa la la la la and used Paris Edges on some of the "rugs" and had the "break" in the fold on the outside on some.

FINALLY found a cute candy cane die that will allow me to make another version of this card with the candy cane on BOTH sides. I used Karen's Flower Pot card mechanism BUT cut a smaller box the dimensions of the BOTTOM of Karen's Flower Pot. The flower pot is smaller at the bottom than it is at the top. I just wanted something smaller and shorter.
