This blog was originally created to give my friend Marnell ideas of cards to make cards with the Christmas box I sent! I got a lot of these ideas from the Cardmaker Magazine that she gives me for Christmas every year. The other ideas, I get from my scrapbooking message board and googling!

Pop Up, Flip, Pull, Shaker and other cards in motion!
I have always loved cards that DO something but unfortunately I've been either to chicken to try it, too busy doing other things to try it and only in the last couple of years, did I start buying dies to make it easy.
This is Karen Burniston's Pop it Up Garden Bench die from Elizabeth Craft Designs. As I said below, she has a similar tree called All Seasons Tree that has most of the things you need in the die. I already had this one and other dies to make it happen. She also has a die called Outdoor Edges that has a grass border similar to this one in addition to a rolling hill border and a rolling hill border with some trees. As I said, I already had these and, hey, saved money for MORE Pop it Ups! :) I have a long wish list!
WORD OF WARNING: As of January 2017, Karen is no longer designing dies for Elizabeth Craft Designs so if you want any of her dies, get them as soon as you can, when the are gone, they are gone.
The picket fence is an old Sizzix yellow die and the tulip is an old QuicKutz die. "Happy" is either from the Elizabeth Craft Designs "Happy Birthday" or "Happy New Year" and "Mother's Day" is Cottage Cutz.
This is Karen's Oval Pull it die with her Chilly Penguin, Buster Dog and Baker Beaver. If you are not musically inclined, just so you get the joke, the black thing that moves over their heads is a "rest" in sheet music. And the white musical score to the bottom left of each character either plays "Happy Birthday or "Happy Birthday to you".
The sheet music background on Buster is an embossing folder that I "hit" with a tiny black ink pad to make it stand out better. The other two are stamped with a large background stamp. It is great because I can either use the traditional black or match ink color to cardstock and have a wonderful "patterned" paper!
When I stamped this, I actually set up my "Stamp Henge", my homemade version of a stamp press, with the stamp and stamped several pieces of cardstock using several different colors of ink and multiples of each color. I liked the look so well that I wanted plenty on hand for other cards, not necessarily this particular one.
Winter is Tim Holtz Alphanumeric 3/4 inch size, Wonderland is DieVersions Express Edges, the one on the left is the "negative" space with a Lawn Fawn Stitched Hillside Borders cut at the top. Penguin is from the penguin baking die set from Cottage Cutz.
Inside is Karen Burniston from Elizabeth Craft Designs Merry Christmas Popup. Stamp is just a random stamp I have.
"let it snow" word border is Lawn Fawn, don't remember if the snow border is Darice or Tim Holtz Sizzix.
Dog is either Lawn Fawn Happy Howlidays or Happy Howloween and of course the Merry Christmas is Karen Burniston.
Both Jingle Bells are Crafters Companion, dogs are Lawn Fawn Happy Howloween or Happy Howlidays.
The popup in this case is my creative folding with my ScorPal or Scor Buddy. The icicle border on the outside hides the fold and makes the card be a true A2 size card. The tiny popup cut in my folded pop up is either Karen Burniston (part of the Bushel Basket die set) or the Lawn Fawn Every Day Popups.
Both O Holy Night dies are Crafters Companion, Nativity is Cottage Cutz and swirl is from Karen Burniston's Merry Christmas popup. Square Flip it card base for Nativity and card below is Sizzix. Stitched frame is Lawn Fawn.
Corner punch in card below is Purple Cow. Small words are Die-Versions Sweet Wordlets. Snowflake ornament is part of the Snowflake card front by Crafters Companion.
I had so much fun making this card for Al & Sue's retirement card.
Lawn Fawn Grassy Border, the man and dog stamps are Art Impressions Campers, travel trailer and car are QuicKutz. "Wood" sign is QuicKutz.
This is made with Karen Burniston's Western Edges from Elizabeth Craft Designs. The word border is Avery Elle Sentimentals. It worked so well with the barbed wire border.
I've since bought the Lawn Fawn border phrase "Thank You" which is VERY similar. I just like "Thank You" better than "Thanks". I have all but one of the Lawn Fawn word borders, the similar Mama Elephant "Happy Valentine's Day" and the Avery Elle Sentimentals. I mix and match these since they are so much alike.
Front above and inside pop up below. I've made several versions of these cards and either use Karen's Lots of Pops for the pop up mechanism or I now prefer the popup die from Karen's Hot Air Balloon die set. It works better because there is one less layer.
Happy Birthday to you is a Lawn Fawn border die.
My first Lawn Fawn Slide it on Over cards.
All five of these use Lawn Fawn dies. Lawn Fawn Stitched Hillside Borders, Stitched Mountain Borders, Slide it on Over for the slide cutout. Dogs are either from Lawn Fawn Critters in the Dog Park, Lawn Fawn Happy Howloween or Simon Says Stamp Exclusive Lawn Fawn Happy Howlidays.
The ball, bounce lines and Go Fetch stamps are from various stamp sets and I cut the ball out with the smallest QuicKutz circle in the 21 nested circle dies. Clouds are from several die sets.
Karen Burniston's Popups: Brownie Cow, fence from Fence Pop-Stand but I used the pop-up die from her Hot Air Balloon Pop-Up. I wanted sky on this one so I went with the pop up rather than the pop-stand. Didn't want to use a tag or label but stamping directly on the pasture shown below wasn't what I wanted. I finally found some signs on one of my cartridges. The balloon Moo and barn also came from a cartridge since my two barn dies were too small.
Howdy is Frantic Stamper die.
KB Fence Pop Stand and horse is from cartridge, I needed a more realistic horse for a customer.
Karen Burniston's Adirondack Chair Pop-Up with Buster Dog and Baker Beaver. Celebrate is is Avery Elle's Elle-ments Sentimental Die set and the Happy Day is a chopped up Lawn Fawns "happy mother's day" word border.
Happy Birthday to you is Sizzix Thinlit.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year is QuicKutz. Snowflake is Karen Burniston from Sizzix.

LOVE this one, one of the ladies on my scrapbooking message board posted a video that showed how to do this.
Score at 2-3/4, and 5-1/2 on BOTH pieces of cardstock.
Large piece is 4-1/4 by 11 inches.
Small piece is also 11 inches long but height can vary. I used 2 inches high for mine.
On the large, to the mountain fold at 2-3/4 and valley fold at 5-1/2, do the opposite to the smaller one and flip around to glue on.

Sizzix Happy Birthday to You
Romantic Rose Decorative Accents
Inside is a Martha Stewart Pansy border punch (punch around the page)
Make a Wish is Die-Versions Sweet Wordlets die
Circle and Daisy die are QuicKutz
And most important is Sizzix Bigz XL PopNCuts base die by Karen Burniston. Wanted it for a long time and finally got one.
Very simple cards but wanted to play with the die and figure out what works best for a bit before I got more ambitious.

Sizzix Happy Birthday to You
Spellbinders Tranquil Moments
QuicKutz border die set

Sizzix
Pop N Cuts base die by Karen Burniston
Pigeon Toed Charms Alphabars
both flowers are Movers and Shapers
Not sure if this really qualifies for an interactive card, but it kind of it.
My newest flip-it cards, the four dies were a gift from a message board friend, Karen. Thank you SO much Karen! I got the New Mexico scrapbooking paper at the Flying J Ranch in Alto, just outside of Ruidoso. I had just seen a layout challenge to make a vacation, etc. page saying "Greetings from ?????" the day before we went to our latest visit to the Flying J, just before they close for the winter.
They only had 3 pages left of the New Mexico map page but several of this one. I took one look at this paper and thought... hmmm, I can make a "greetings from" card using this paper AND my QuicKutz New Mexico die. Use the Greetings from "Seasons Greetings" and I have two from dies, one will surely work.
I could do Birthday Greetings, just plain old Greetings like a Hello card. Colors aren't bright so I can't do a glitzy Christmas card like I usually do but can do it for Christmas also. I'm going to see if I have some burgundy cardstock that will look nice. I forgot to take a picture of the inside with the "New Mexico" shape and it was sold immediately so I'll make sure to get a picture of the next one. I really like the flip-its for these cards.
Birthday is Elizabeth Crafts, Greetings is Tim Holtz Holiday Words Sizzix, From is either Elizabeth Crafts or Die-Versions Sweet Wordlets. Bigger New Mexico shape is an old QuicKutz die and the tiny one is from Sizzix Tim Holtz USA. Arrows including the chevron is a set from Momenta. I'm using that set more and more. Flip it cards are Stephanie Barnard Sizzix Bigz.
More of my flip it cards. I have tons more but guess I didn't upload them to my Christmas card section of the blog yet! And yes, I DO have a lot that are NOT Dachshund. The first cards are Newtons Nook Holiday Hounds stamp & die set and both paw prints are Elizabeth Craft Designs - Karen Burniston Props 4. The pawprint in that set is one of my favorites. You have 3 looks, outline, the four toes and pad all separate, or the outline on the solid pawprint. The set also comes with a treat bone, fish bone, dog/cat bowl and baseball.
Cards are all Sizzix Flip-It Fancy Label with the matching thinlits label.
Corner punches are Purple Cow
Frantic Stamper Dachshund
X-Cuts Dogs
Critters in the Dog Park
Frantic Stamper Dachshunds
Lawn Fawn Critters in the Dog Park
Another Flip-it card, this one for Mother's Day!
This was done right after I FINALLY got a Flip-it Card Die!
AND the Lawn Fawn Critters in the Dog Park die and stamp set.
I had problems with the die CUTTING the creases rather than just creasing.
Spent some time on the phone with Sizzix and we got a solution! Works great now. I mention that because on THIS card, had to give it to her the next day. Jeff gave me HOURS of notice :) ! Anyway, I used the Easter ribbon that just said Spring on it to hold the card together. I think it added a lot to the card!
I bought the QuicKutz graduation die 7 years ago to put on a penguin that I was using on a graduation card. Comes with two tiny hats, worked great with this little Dachshund. The butterfly was a punch, all my die butterflies were too big.

I have a Lawn Fawn
grass border, very similar to Karen's ECD Outside Borders, on the front AND back of base and it looks like one piece because I
taped the bench die and cut ONLY the leg on each side and then snipped across
the bottom "grass" leg so I could slip the green base under and around the
bench. That way the only hole on the INSIDE of the card to be filled was behind
the back of the bench.
After I figured out my technique, it was fast and easy. I don't have ECD's Karen Burniston's "All Seasons Tree" because I already had a tree that is almost identical and used other flower and cloud dies to substitute. Karen's tree has everything you need, tiny flowers, tiny leaves, snowflakes, just no birds.

I was so happy that I thought about using the flying
birds hold the Lawn Fawn "happy mother's day" word border and got the companion birds in the tree.

I don't know why I only made two of these. A VERY cute card and not too hard to make after I got the box part figured out.

I don't know if a Stair Step card qualifies as a motion or card that does something BUT it stands up very pretty, all by itself.
]
I
went a step further, I cut the white snowflake border, then glued it on
the the back one to
make the card 4-1/4 inches wide. I had to put a
crease where it joined the red because it needed to tilt back a little,
otherwise, it would be pointed IN.
I haven't finished the penguins eyes, couldn't wait to get it posted so you can see it tomorrow.
